History is all about different interpretations of events. When preparing coursework it is essential to form your own critical opinion of others' arguments - and then work out your own position. Because of this no single 'textbook' is recommended for this course.

To score high marks in the assessment items it is important to use a range of materials in order to show that you understand the main positions they reflect and the main historical arguments. Wide reading helps you to develop knowledge of historians' opinions as well as your own critical understanding of history.
